In-Home Documentary

a quiet record of everyday life

Documentary family sessions are all about photographing your family as you are — at home, in your own rhythm, without expectation or performance. There is very little posing and minimal interruption, allowing space for real interactions, small gestures, and the emotional texture of your days to surface naturally.

We document the environment as much as the people — the dust motes in the afternoon sun, the pile of well-loved books, and the tiny details that make your house a home.

This approach is especially meaningful for families who value authenticity, for seasons of transition, or for welcoming a new baby in a way that feels calm and unhurried. I am a quiet guest in your home offering gentle direction only when the light calls for it, but otherwise allowing the day to breathe.

In-home documentary sessions are designed to preserve what might otherwise go unnoticed: the way your child leans into you, the quiet moments between activity, the beauty of the ordinary.

Sessions take place at your home when the natural light is at its most inviting, typically mid-morning or early afternoon.

A signed contract and a $100 non-refundable retainer secure your date. The remaining balance is due two weeks before your session.

In-Home Documentary FAQ

What if my home isn’t “photo ready”?

Your home does not need to be perfect. Lived-in spaces tell a story, and that’s what these sessions are about. I may suggest small adjustments if needed, but I’m not looking for a styled or spotless environment, just a real one.

What if my kids are shy or don’t engage?

That’s completely okay. There’s no expectation to perform. Shyness, curiosity, restlessness — all of it belongs in the story. I work patiently and allow time for children to settle into their own comfort.

Will you tell us what to do?

Very little. I’ll observe and photograph what naturally unfolds. If a moment needs gentle encouragement or if things feel stuck, I may offer light guidance, but the session is largely led by you and your rhythms.

What should we wear for our session?

After booking, you’ll receive my full Styling & Preparation Guide along with personalized outfit support. We’ll talk through colors, textures, and how clothing can support the feeling you’re drawn to.

You don’t need to buy anything new. Often the most meaningful pieces are the ones already loved.

Is this only for newborns?

No. While these sessions work beautifully for welcoming a new baby, they’re also meaningful for families with older children, quiet seasons at home, or moments of transition you want to remember honestly.

Can lifestyle newborn sessions be done this way?

Yes. In-home documentary sessions are ideal for lifestyle newborn photography and are offered within this format.

When will our gallery be ready?

Your gallery will be delivered within 3–4 weeks. During peak seasons, timelines may extend slightly, but you will always be informed in advance.

Every image is edited with care, consistency, and intention .

Do you offer prints and albums?

Yes. Your gallery will include access to heirloom-quality prints and albums created to last.

Purchasing physical items is not required, but they are one of the most meaningful ways to let your photographs live beyond a screen.

How far in advance should we book?

Most families book 2–4 months in advance, especially for peak fall and spring seasons. Availability is intentionally limited each month so I can serve each family well.

How do we book?

Booking begins with a Pre-Booking Consultation, a quiet, no-pressure conversation where we see if your family and my work are the right fit.

After our call, you’ll receive your contract, invoice, and welcome materials.

Can my pet be included?

Yes, please feel free to include all members of your household.

Are the travel expenses included in your packages?

Yes, travel within Lake, Seminole, Orange, and Volusia Counties is included.

For sessions outside these areas, I’m happy to provide a custom travel quote.

What is your cancellation policy?

Your retainer is non-refundable, but you may reschedule with at least 48 hours notice.

If you choose not to reschedule, the retainer remains non-refundable since it covers your reserved date and planning.
